Injuries Sustained from Accidents on Boats

By Blur Loterina Have you had a particularly sunny day spending time in a boat or yacht that turned awry due to unexpected accident on board and at sea? Well, misfortunes do happen at the most unexpected times. And sometimes, it leaves serious physical injuries. Accidents on boats are particularly tricky since this involve the sea and its undetermined depths. You would never know if youre going to spend the last days of your life not on dry land Well, before we go into the gory detailswe might as well tackle your rights as victims of injury which resulted from accidents on boats and what legal actions you can do. We are going to give you the important facts you need to know, before anything else. Did you know that there are almost thirteen million recreational numbered boats in the United States? Meanwhile, boating accident resulting to injuries number close to six thousand every year and cause over thirty nine million dollars in property damage. Last 2002, in a boating accident case, 750 people were killed. In almost 40% of these boating accidents case fatalities involve alcohol. Fatalities are most often the result of drowning. Once accidents on a boat or any vessel at sea occur, authorities should be informed quickly about it. The case is required to be reported to the federal or state authorities especially when following circumstances happen: the accident causes the death or disappearance, indicating death or injury, of any individual; the boat accident caused injuries to the persons in it and requires medical care beyond first aid and/or if damages to the vessel or property exceeds five hundred dollars. Boating accidents involving open motorboats, personal watercrafts (PWCs) or cabin motorboats are commonly reported cases. Accidents may happen due to collisions with fixed objects or moving vessels, capsizing or sinking, fire or explosion, falls or ejection overboard and other circumstances. Often, negligence resulting from operator inattention is the foremost contributing factor in a case of accidents on boats, according to the Boating Accident Report Database (BARD) system. Boat operators carelessness or recklessness and operators inexperience or excessive speed follows in frequency are also causes of these types of accidents. Physical harm to a person caused by a boating accident case must be filed with the proper authorities within 48 hours that accident happened. On the other hand, if only vessel or property damage were caused by the boating accident case, case can be filed ten days from the occurrence. If you or someone you know have been injured in a boating accident case and operator negligence is involved, you may be eligible to file a claim or a lawsuit to seek compensation for damages including injuries, medical costs, pain and suffering, lost wages, and property or vessel damages. This may compensate your could-have-been good day at sea, but again maybe any amount wouldnt. Sad events, these types of accidents. Knitting with a Machine? Beware of the Twist!

By Linda Black When you buy a knitting machine, the yarn that you knit with is just as important as the machine itself. The yarn composition (natural or synthetic), the degree of twist and the resulting knitted texture are all-important to the success of your finished garments. Very few knitting machines are bought without a certain amount of trepidation. There is always that feeling that learning how to use one will prove too difficult but, in fact, most anyone can learn to use the modern knitting machine. The problems that most new machine knitters encounter are more often due to the yarn or pattern used than to the machine itself. Its sadly true that being able to use the machine competently will never make up for working with a poor pattern or an inappropriate yarn. Lots of knitters only need to see ’4-ply’ written on a pattern and they assume that any old 4-ply yarn will knit up just as well. Oh no! Think of a 4-ply baby yarn compared with a 4-ply crepe. Both are termed 4-ply but the low-twist baby yarn is soft, while the high-twist crepe is very firm. Theres little similarity between these two types of yarn, even when the fibre content is the same and this is due to the extent of twist applied by the yarn manufacturer. Twist, texture and tension are inseparable. The degree of twist will always affect the texture and this, in turn, will affect the firmness or softness of the finished fabric. Twist and texture affect the tension swatch. Twist (or lack of it!) will determine the shape of the stitch which, in turn, will affect the width and length of the tension swatch. A firm high-twist yarn will produce a stitch of a certain size and shape, depending on the machine tension setting or, in hand-knitting, the size of needle used. This type of stitch is not likely to change its size or shape very much. On the other hand, the stitches knitted in a soft low-twist yarn may fall into a mixture of shapes, depending on how the work is pulled and pressed. These factors can have a huge effect on the tension swatch, making yarn substitution quite a risk for an inexperienced knitter! Yarn is generally sold by weight but its always worth looking at the cone label or ball band to check the yarn length in metres/yards. Going back to the baby yarn and crepe example, a 1oz (25gm) ball of baby yarn is likely to contain a longer length of yarn than the same weight of crepe. This is because the crepe has been tightly twisted to give a firm non-pill yarn. Twisting not only changes the texture, it also shortens the length. Look at some hand-knitting patterns for crepe yarns and youll see they usually need several extra balls to complete the garment and this, of course, makes it more expensive to knit them! Your Love Relationship: Guarding and Protecting It Always

By Dr. Jackie Black Making and keeping agreements and commitments is a fundamental ingredient of any relationship. It is one of the cornerstones of a committed love relationship. It is vital that partners know in the deepest part of their being that they can count on the promises and assurances offered by their beloved. Not honoring the agreements or commitments you make is a betrayal of your partner and of your relationship. It constitutes a breech of trust. In a long-term, primary, monogamous love relationship we make agreements and commitments to each other AND to the relationship. Think of the relationship itself this way: When you and your partner join the many facets of your lives together, you create a third energy, the relationship, that lives and breathes as its own entity; an entity that you are entrusted to guard and protect, nurture and care for. Making and keeping agreements and commitments is one of the ways couples make that happen. Here are 5 Simple Steps to making and honoring agreements and commitments: 1) Make agreements and commitments in good faith and with good intention. 2) Only make agreements and commitments you believe you are able and willing to honor. 3) Tell your partner the minute you become aware that you may not be able to honor an agreement or a commitment. Let him or her know that (a) you made the commitment or the agreement in good faith and with every intention to honor it; (b) you have become aware that you are having trouble honoring it; (c) you want to renegotiate the agreement or commitment as soon as possible. 4) Renegotiate the agreement or commitment WITH your partner. Invite his or her participation and feedback in this process. Remember: You made the agreement or commitment for a reason. Your partner has legitimate expectations and may be disappointed by having to renegotiate things. Be patient, compassionate, and listen to everything s/he has to say. The process of re-negotiating is as important as agreeing or committing to something new. 5) Be gentle with yourself and your partner. This is a new skill you are practicing and it will probably feel uncomfortable the first few times. Find your courage and keep going. Remember, only YOU can make it happen! Nokia BH-800 – The Least Unattractive Bluetooth Headset

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Anna_More]Anna More The Nokia BH-800 wireless takes advantage of the latest advancements in Bluetooth technology. While Bluetooth technology is relatively new on the scene and has been available for cell phone use for only a few years now. The term “Bluetooth” is not new at all. Its origins can be traced back to when the first telephone was invented by Alexander Bell. One story has it that it was used in the first phone call ever made and you thought the first words spoken were “can you hear me now? Legend has it that after he had finished inventing the telephone, he set it on the table and was admiring his new creation, when all of a sudden it rang. Alexander answered the call and it turns out it was his dentists office, calling to verify an appointment he had made a week earlier to have a Bluetooth looked at that had become stained after eating his favorite food, that happened to be blueberries. Bluetooth is the phrase given to a type of technology that was developed to give cell phone users complete versatility while remaining totally hands free. The Nokia BH-800 Bluetooth wireless headset is a fine example of this technology that is now on the market. It is roughly the size of a domino game piece and what is packed into this little gem is nothing short of amazing. It is worn on one ear using a comfortable clip and ear bud and is so light weight that you can easily forget that you are wearing it, in fact let me check if mine is still on. It gives you hands free access to your cell phone and a multitude of functions to use with your cell phone. One simple, easy to use button gives you complete control over of the functions. These include answering and ending phone calls, voice dialing activation, and redialing and volume control. Weighing in at a mere 0.32 ounce, the Nokia BH-800 wireless headset is a featherweight that packs a ton of features. The voice microphone picks up the voice of the person using it in the ear canal so there is no visible microphone on it. By doing this external surrounding noise is not greatly reduced or eliminated all together. You can talk while driving down the road with you window down and hear and be heard with complete clarity. No more shouting into your cell phone or straining to hear what your caller is saying. Low voltage technology combined with a lithium polymer battery combine to give an unbelievable time between charges. Fully charged it gives a full six hours of talk time and up to one-hundred-sixty hours of standby time. That is over six days of standby time on one charge. So no more running dead right in the middle of an important phone call. Don’t you love it when that happens? The Nokia BH-800 Bluetooth wireless headset comes with everything you need to start talking Bluetooth. In fact your cell phone may already have Bluetooth capabilities, well most of them do. So there is nothing else to buy with the Nokia BH-800 Bluetooth headset. So unless you want to be left behind in this new technological age of wireless communications systems go check into what Nokia has to offer in this state of the art system. Negative Calorie Foods: What’s the Problem?

By Wayne Mcgregor Theres a lot of buzz in the diet world about negative calorie foods and whether they are for real. The negative calorie phrase refers to a small group of foods which contain so little energy that the body uses more energy to digest and absorb the nutrients. If this is true there would be a net loss of calories from the body resulting in a negative calorie balance, which is required in order to lose weight. Are Negative Calorie Foods for real? In our world of high technology scientists are finding it hard to calculate the energy cost of digesting and absorbing various foods. This makes it difficult to prove or disprove the theory. However, many experts do believe the theory to be incorrect. No matter whether negative calorie foods are true or not, I think sometimes experts should look at the bigger picture and learn to keep quiet in some cases. Let me explain. Do we want to lose weight or not? Lets look deeper into the potential of eating more negative calorie foods. Most of the foods on a negative calorie list are fruits or vegetables, and we all hear that people in the US and UK are not eating enough fruits and vegetables. For this reason alone any way of encouraging people in this part of the world to eat more of these healthy, natural foods must be a good thing, surely? Also the fact is that these foods ARE often very low in calories and a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables should ultimately mean a lower calorie intake which WILL result in weight loss. Another point I think is important is the psychological edge that one may develop from eating more negative calorie foods. If one believes they have the key to their weight loss goal it can boost them and lead to a higher degree of motivation. A greater motivation leads to increases in effort and consistency, and these are two essential ingredients to success in losing weight. What are the potential benefits of negative calorie foods? Increase in consumption of fruits and vegetables = good move for most people! A natural decrease in calorie intake = a must for losing weight! A possible boost to motivation = pushes up consistency which is essential for weight loss. Therefore even if the experts are wrong with the theory of negative calorie foods, the fact is, eating a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables could help some people on the road to weight loss success. And we say good luck to them! Wayne Mcgregor has written hundreds of articles on ways to lose weight. His website provides tons of free weight loss information and help. http://www.weightlossforall.com/negative-calorie-foods-list.htm Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Wayne_Mcgregor http://EzineArticles.com/?Negative-Calorie-Foods:-Whats-the-Problem?&id=142853 home equity loan with bad credit 1000 bad credit loan texas car loan bad credit history poor credit car loan

History Of Criminal Justice

By Marcus Peterson Justice while she winks at crimes, Stumbles on innocence sometimes? – Samuel Butler Crime and punishment have had a dangerous liaison with humanity throughout the history of civilization. People have always done and will continue to do things that are crimes in the eyes of society. They will kill, they will loot, they will rape, and they will plunder, and although the crimes are committed by humans themselves, they alone have the right and obligation to decide how these acts are punished. The only detail that makes a difference in the field of criminology is the perception of right and wrong. Many things that are considered okay on this side of the border become capital crimes on the other. Crimes come a dime a dozen and so do the ways criminal systems judge them. To decide whether an act is a crime or to justify it under moral auspices requires a close look at the phenomenon, making it essential to study all precedents available. Making the proper assessment of crime, the accountability of the perpetrator as well as the victim in order to mete out punishment that fits the crime depends up on a detailed study of the history of crime and punishment. The commonest form of punishment since ancient times has been exile. People were sent away from their native lands when they did something wrong with the belief that by sending them out of the kingdom, their crimes are no longer the kingdom’s responsibility. Then came the age of tributes: people who committed crimes were to pay suitable compensation to the victim’s family as well as to the state for wasting its time with crimes. Of course, this arrangement made no sense for the poor, who were then conveniently engaged as bonded labor. Throughout history, criminal justice has been responsible for committing the most heinous crimes. The ‘witches’ burnt at the stake, the peasants convicted of treason and the children buried alive are just some of the victims of skewed perceptions of crime and punishment. Most of the time, the poorer classes had to bear the brunt of criminal justice and were forced to endure public flogging, torture and amputations for crimes like staring at a parson or stealing bread. Criminal Justice provides detailed information on Criminal Justice, Online Criminal Justice Courses, Masters Degree In Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice Careers and more. Criminal Justice is affiliated with Criminal Records Online. European Human Hair Wig – How Much Does It Really Cost?

By Franek Migaszewski I am sure you have wondered what the truth is about the prices of wigs made from European human hair. From shop to shop you will find a huge variation in prices, anywhere from 300 USD to as high as 10.000 USD (!). So let me take you through each step of the process of producing high quality handmade wigs, and show the real costs. Firstly, take the acquisition of hair. The cost of hair for one wig (0,2 0,4 kg) varies from 30 to 40 USD throughout most Eastern European countries. There is little variation there, but an important additional cost is incurred by high-quality wig-makers who collect hair in an appropriate and well-controlled way. The best wig-makers visit hairdressers and care for the hair themselves, using no middleman. They do not buy hair from wholesalers because wholesalers blend hair, because it is so time-consuming to acquire really good hair. One simply has to find a girl among hairdressers clients that has beautiful, healthy hair and who wants it cut. The hairdresser can offer a free service to such a girl and actually pay her for her hair – and clearly both sides benefit from such a transaction. But this shows that, by its very nature, acquisition of good-quality hair cannot be a simple large-scale automatic process. That explains why outside of Eastern Europe the price of acquiring good quality hair is skyrocketing – not because the hair in itself is expensive, but because of its rarity. It is difficult to imagine a large-scale cheap process of acquiring high quality human hair in European countries. Second, take the other materials used in making wigs. These are not expensive and their costs do not exceed 50 USD for a typical wig. These are the materials used to produce a cap. More and more wig-makers are now buying ready-made caps, so called “monofilament”, which are gaining popularity and their cost is not very high. Third, take the labor involved in making high quality handmade wigs. This is the main cost factor. Handmade wig needs at least a week to be produced by an experienced expert worker. It takes a week of hard work, with each hair being knitted to the cap with a very small crochet-needle or glued with a special glue. In the case of long hair, the production time could be two to three weeks. Reliable wig-makers knit hair with a double-knot which makes the construction much more durable but needs some extra work-time. Depending on the type of wig, length of hair and type of cap the cost of labor is from 150 to 300 USD. Finally, you cannot forget other typical business costs like investments amortization, management costs, taxes, insurances, rent, and profit. Altogether, the price of a handmade human hair wig made from European hair cannot be lower than 500-600 USD even for the shortest hair. There is no upper limit and it only depends on how much a customer is willing to pay, but before you pay 1000 USD or more for your wig remember the real costs of its creation. And now for a real mystery. Why are European human hair wigs not made in China where labor costs are much lower than in Poland, Russia, or the Czech Republic? The main reason is no good quality European human hair available in large enough quantities to make profitable large-scale production in China possible. This is because wig-makers in Eastern European countries are buying all of the available hair for their own production. Surprising? — but that is how it is. And that is why most of wigs produced in China are made of Asian hair or blended hair widely available on a wholesale market. Franek Migaszewski is co-founder and manager of Wiggywigs.com site, the first wig vendor from Eastern Europe selling human hair wigs directly to the western markets on the Internet. Weight Loss Tip #3: Moderate Drinking May Help You With Weight Loss

By Lawrence Cole The connection between moderate drinking and avoiding heart disease is pretty much old news to most of us at this point. But now, experts are saying that those of us who have 1-2 drinks a few times a week are less likely to become obese than non drinkers. Finally! A Weight Loss “Do and Don’t” that we can have some fun with! Not too much fun though. Those of us who consume 4 or more drinks daily are a whopping 46% more likely to be obese, research says. The connection between moderate drinking and avoiding heart disease is pretty much old news to most of us at this point. This new information was based on a study of over 8,000 people conducted by Dr. James Rohrer of the Mayo Clinic and Dr. Ahmed Arif, from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. “We don’t want to give people the wrong impression”…says Rohrer…”We certainly don’t want to recommend that nondrinkers become drinkers just to control their weight”. If you’re a non-drinker—don’t panic. The odds for moderate drinkers are only .73% better than nondrinkers for staying thin. The main message here is that a few drinks consumed socially isn’t anything to worry about if that’s your M.O. Some experts don’t completely agree with these findings. Dr. David L. Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center, says that the slight reduciton in obesity risk may very well be attributed to additional healthy behaviors unrelated to drinking. “Many health-conscious people have a daily drink because of the widely touted health benefits; it may be a constellation of behaviors in such people that lead to weight control”…says Katz…”This would produce the appearance of a weight-control benefit from moderate drinking, but it would be illusory.” Well here’s my 2 cents on the matter: As mentioned above, I feel that the primary takeaway from this research is that responsible, moderate drinkers need not be alarmed at the implications of drinking on their weight loss. Though the overall trend presented here makes sense to me, I am a slight bit skeptical of the percentages given for risk levels. My suspiscion comes from the fact that body mass index, or BMI, was used as a measure of obesity. As I mention in my program, BMI is not the best determination of true obesity. Its measurements, though useful, are not accurate enough to be followed to the letter—certainly not for coming up with percentages in a medical research study. So if you choose to drink, do it moderately and responsibly. And if you don’t choose to do so, that’s o.k. too. WHATEVER you choose to do, make sure you’re eating right and exercising daily! If you were to think about it when you use a sewing machine to fix some of your cloths that have a small rip in them you can really save a large amount of money in the long run. If you are able to fix all those small rips and tears you are not going to be throwing out a lot of cloths that are repairable.
